SHOPPING ON A BUDGET
Salvation Army Family Thrift Store needs community’s support to help people dress for less
Columbia, S.C., August 26, 2009—In this economy people from all walks of life are shopping at The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store where they can find affordable professional and blue collar attire. But Salvation Army officials say donations have run dry this summer and they need the community’s help in filling their empty racks of clothing.
“The Family Thrift Store needs donations,” said Major Richard L. Jones, Area Coordinator at The Salvation Army. “People who can’t afford new clothes are coming to the store more frequently, so the store needs more supply to keep up with demand.”
Donations are used to help people, and proceeds go directly to helping people in need through the Mission and work of The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store is located at 1312 North Millwood Avenue. If you would like to donate, please bring items to the store, or call 748-9964 to schedule a pick up.

About The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in 1865, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for 128 years in the United States. Nearly 29 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing spiritual counseling, food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and housing assistance to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. Nationwide, 83 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services.
