DON’T FORGET TO GIVE THIS CHRISTMAS

The Salvation Army uses donations to help people in need

Columbia, S.C., December 22, 2009—Bells will ring for only two more days at area stores, as The Salvation Army Christmas Campaign wraps up on Christmas Eve. But there’s still time to make a difference in someone’s life by dropping your donation in the famous red kettles.

“The Salvation Army depends on the local community’s generosity to provide services to people in need,” said Major Richard L. Jones, Area Coordinator at The Salvation Army. “We are hearing from more people this year due to the battered economy.”

Remember, it’s not The Salvation Army that needs the money. It is the children and clients that The Salvation Army serves year round. If The Salvation Army falls short on donations, the organization will be forced to cut year round services to cover the shortfall. The impact is real and will be felt far beyond Christmas. Every penny placed in the famous red kettle counts and provides help to people of the Midlands.

Monetary donations also may be mailed to P.O. Drawer 2786, Columbia, SC 29202.
