LAST EVENT SCHEDULED AT MAIN STREET LOCATION
SAUL and SMILE program alumni invited to attend Salvation Army service
Columbia, S.C., January 29, 2010—Alumni of the SAUL (2000-2007) and SMILE programs are cordially invited to attend a closing service to be held at The Salvation Army’s former 2025 Main Street location on Sunday, February 14 at 6:30 PM. The SAUL (Salvation Army Uplifting Life) program and the SMILE (Salvation Army Making Individual Lives Easier) program assisted many local people with a variety of needs. The SAUL program provided longer-term shelter, designed for the homeless who faced alcohol and/or drug addiction. The SMILE program provided longer-term shelter for people who were chronically homeless and had a history of mental illness and substance abuse. All alumni are invited to attend and are welcome to bring family. A reception is to follow.
“We look forward to seeing some old faces, people who, with the help of these two programs, have started fresh,” said Major Richard L. Jones, Area Coordinator at The Salvation Army in Columbia. “It will be exciting to learn about how their lives have changed in wonderful positive ways.”
Though this event will be the last at the 2025 Main Street location, it will not be The Salvation Army’s last event in Columbia. The Christian charity is transitioning to the former Easter Seals building at 3024 Farrow Road.
